My perfectly beautiful, mahogany, elm, lifetime, guaranteed, full of life wooden floors are now dull, lifeless and filled with streaks. Greetings Sir or Madam: I've been using the recommended Bona with young baby feet on the front of the pack for my lifelong mahogany and elm hardwood floors for many years and then couldn't find it on the shelves of my local store. I tried the newer, water-based, blue-colored Bona, but never achieved the same quality of performance as I had previously received from the Bona mentioned earlier than using the Bona with young baby feet on the front of the package. If your wood floor's sheen is so shiny it looks fake—and maybe even too slippery to be sure—touch it up with a low-gloss polyurethane, which offers the same protection but is less reflective. To apply the new gloss, the old gloss must be masked off, which is a light version of floor sanding (it only removes the gloss, not the wood surface).

100% gloss — the highest level of gloss possible. In reality, you won't find floors that are 100% shiny, but if you were, they would be so shiny they look like a mirror. Gloss levels from 50% to 100% have a very pronounced shine and create an elegant and modern result. Because low-gloss options tend to hide marks, scuffs, or scratches, they're great options for high-traffic areas and homes with children and pets. As mentioned above, low-gloss floors mimic the increasingly popular European-inspired look of oiled floors.
